Selank (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) is a synthetic heptapeptide developed by the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It is an analog of Tuftsin — a naturally occurring tetrapeptide fragment of IgG — extended with a Pro-Gly-Pro sequence to improve metabolic stability and CNS activity duration.

Registered as a pharmaceutical in Russia in 2009 for generalized anxiety disorder, Selank has been studied for its effects on GABA-A receptor modulation, enkephalin activity, and BDNF expression. Unlike benzodiazepines, published research characterizes Selank as producing anxiolytic effects without receptor downregulation, sedation, or withdrawal.

Its evidence base is primarily from Russian research tradition and has not yet been independently replicated in large Western trials — a fact Shed presents transparently.
