The secret’s out—Starbucks has finally unveiled their secret menu. Though the menu is small (just four new drinks) the options look delicious, and we’re excited to give them a try. They’re available through the app if you want to treat yourself!
And just because you’re on a weight-loss journey, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some of the new offerings. We are big believers in balance and following the 80/20 rule. That said, if you are looking to make these drinks a little more macro-friendly, we’ve broken down the ingredients and provided a few swaps to help you stay on track.
Cookies on top
- Original:
- Cold brew
- 2 pumps of vanilla syrup
- Vanilla sweet cold foam
- Cookie crumble topping
- Updated macro-friendly version:
- Add just 1 pump of vanilla syrup or switch to sugar-free vanilla syrup to reduce the sugar content
- Swap out the cold foam for a light sweet cream cold foam or one made from nonfat milk to help cut calories while still keeping texture intact
- Because we know the cookie crumble is the best part, ask your barista to go light on the cookie crumble topping so you can still enjoy it
- If you’re taking your drink home, add a scoop of protein powder for a boost of protein
Dragonfruit glow-up
- Original:
- Mango dragonfruit lemonade refresher
- Peach juice blend
- Vanilla sweet cream
- Updated macro-friendly version:
- Do half lemonade with half water instead of all lemonade, or go with their light peach juice blend to reduce sugar
- Swap out the cold foam for a light sweet cream cold foam or one made from nonfat milk to help cut calories while still keeping texture intact
- Add a quarter to half a packet of your favorite Clear Protein + Hydration flavor (we recommend the Peach Mango) for a boost of protein
Lemon, tea, and pearls
- Original:
- Black tea
- Lemonade
- Raspberry-flavored popping pearls
- Updated macro-friendly version
- This one is already pretty light on the calories, but if you want to reduce the sugar content a bit, you can ask for more tea than lemonade and go light on the pearls, or ask for unsweetened black tea
Just add white mocha
- Original:
- Brown sugar oatmilk shaken espresso
- White chocolate mocha sauce
- Vanilla sweet cream cold foam
- Updated macro-friendly version:
- Ask for a half serving each of brown sugar syrup and white chocolate mocha sauce instead of the recommended amount
- Swap out the cold foam for a light sweet cream cold foam or even one made from nonfat milk to help cut calories while still keeping texture intact
- Ask for half oat milk and half almond milk to save some calories
- If you’re taking your drink home, add a scoop of protein powder for a boost of protein
With just a few simple swaps, you can make your Starbucks order work for you during your wellness journey. And remember, these are just a few suggestions to try if you want to reduce calories or sugar. But an important part of any wellness journey is balance and enjoying the things you love. So if you want to try the Starbucks Secret Menu items as they are, there’s no harm in treating yourself every once in a while. You can keep these suggestions in your back pocket for all of the other times you enjoy one of these drinks!
