BOXED WARNING: POSSIBLE THYROID TUMORS, INCLUDING CANCER. In studies with rodents, Wegovy® and medicines that work like it caused thyroid tumors, including thyroid cancer. It is not known if Wegovy® causes thyroid tumors or a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) in people. Do not use Wegovy® if you or any of your family have ever had MTC, or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). Tell your provider if you get a lump or swelling in your neck, hoarseness, trouble swallowing, or shortness of breath.
Do not use Wegovy® if you have had a serious allergic reaction to semaglutide or any of its ingredients. Do not use it with other semaglutide products or other GLP-1 medicines.
Wegovy® may cause serious side effects, including: inflammation of the pancreas; gallbladder problems; low blood sugar; kidney problems from dehydration; severe stomach problems; serious allergic reactions; vision changes in people with type 2 diabetes; a faster resting heart rate; and food or liquid getting into the lungs during surgery or sedation.
Wegovy® may harm an unborn baby. Stop taking it at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy. Breastfeeding is not recommended while taking Wegovy® tablets.
The most common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, stomach pain, headache, tiredness, upset stomach, dizziness, bloating, belching, gas, stomach flu, heartburn, and low blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.
